What is the best time to buy a snowboard?

My birthday is in May, so I was thinking about getting a new board. Are they usually on sale then because it's the end of the season? Also, what boards/brands would you suggest? I can do every run on the mountain I go to(Grouse in Vancouver) easily, and I love doing the double blacks with powder. I occasionally hit up the park but I do more jumps than rails, and I like the jumps that you have to seek out on runs a little more than the park ones. I want a decent board that's affordable, and can do everything I explained.
