Staff question????????????

So I recently got off the carnival triumph, and every night at dinner we had the same waitress, she was like the coolest person ever, anyway I noticed she was the only wait staff that was a girl, and she was fantastic at her job, so I was wondering........ Why don't they hire alot of women for that position? And is it usually like that on all ships? ( of carnival cruise lines)
