How to deal/live with a dysfunctional father?

I think your father will never change till someon has enough love for him to allow him to suffere the consequences of his actions all the time he is being rescued that is not love - In order to change we have to be totally down and out and have no options - no one dies from this lesson it can only make him stronger = He has been able to wheedle his way through everything in his life and he needs to know what happens when he cant By keeping on rescuing him from consequences you are limiting his capacity to learn and get redemption I am not talking in a religious way here just he needs the experience that will bring him back to humanity and you all need the experience of putting up a boundary that sticks.
