An unwelcome sense of humour?

i answered a question here a while ago ......when painting how do you mix brown? my answer was, after reading previous posts, give any three colours you want to a four year old and bingo....... i got a thumbs down. do i have to refine my personality in order to maintain online etiquette....? thoughts please........
